The 2023 ADDYs: By The Numbers

The one and only American Advertising Awards hosted by the Capital Region Advertising Federation (CRAF) are swiftly approaching. To be prepared, your friends at Akullian Creative have one blog for your two eyes with some facts you should know about the event. 

Here are the 2023 ADDYs: by the numbers.

The first number you need to know is the day circled on your calendar already: CRAF will be hosting the ADDYs on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023 in the G.E. Theater at Proctors in Schenectady. The theme is modern masquerade, and if you need, there will be the opportunity to make a mask at the event. Get your tickets now!

(About) 5.75 lbs & 7 and 7/8 inches

The ADDY award from 2022 weighs a little under 6 lbs, coming in on our scales at 5.75 lbs. Fun fact: the 2021 ADDY is 5.15 lbs, meaning the ADDY itself went up in weight. The 2022 ADDY is 7 and 7/8ths inches tall, the same height as the 2021 ADDYs, for those of you keeping score at home.

25,000 Entries

There are over 25,000 entries into the ADDYs’ local competitions each year across over 100 markets. With so much great work to go through, the judges have some tough decisions to make before the night of the award show.

1 Big Winner

There can only be one big winner. The “Best in Show” is given to one student and one professional. The “Betsy” is the award that everyone goes into the night hoping to win. After the local competitions, the best projects can be entered into one of 15 district competitions. If the project wins at the district level, it goes onto the national stage of the American Advertising Awards.

79 Awards

CRAF gave out 64 silver and 13 gold ADDYs in 2022 along with the two Betsy awards (one for professionals, one for students). Add them all up and you have 79 awards handed out in total. Four of those silver and one of the gold went to student entries. Akullian Creative took home four silver awards in the 2022 ADDYs, but who’s counting?
